The Promise
The Humboldt Promise is a career-guidance and scholarship program aiming to maximize outcomes for Humboldt students, their families, and their hometown.

The scholarship provides nearly every graduate of Humboldt High School the opportunity to continue their education beyond graduation, regardless of academic merit or financial standing. By offering up to 100% of the cost of attending college, university, or technical training, the program fosters more substantial and diverse outcomes for Humboldt students.
Ultimately, we believe this investment in Humboldt’s youth will contribute to a greater resiliency for our school district; grow a stronger local economy by attracting new residents; and develop a deeper commitment for graduates to their hometown of Humboldt, KS.
The Humboldt Promise awards every HHS graduate who has been continually enrolled in the school district since at least tenth grade, covering tuition and mandatory fees up to the highest in-state, public university rate.
The scholarship covers up to 120 credit hours if the student maintains a 2.5 grade point average. The Humboldt Promise can be used at any Title IV institution in the United States.
Established in 2025, and funded for at least 25 years by the Works Family Foundation, this unique scholarship was inspired by the Neodesha Promise Scholarship and modeled after a programs around the country, originally starting in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The Humboldt Promise, funded by the Works Family Foundation, gives students in the Humboldt school district—regardless of their economic situation or academic merit—an opportunity to pursue a college degree or technical certification, free of financial burden.
The Humboldt Promise Scholarship is for Humboldt High School graduates that covers tuition and the mandatory costs that come with attending a two- or four-year college or university, or technical/vocational program anywhere in the United States. Students are only eligible for this scholarship if they have been enrolled in the USD 258 school district since tenth grade or before.
